Britannica online Essay
This is a book suggestion that has been made to guarantee the offspring of today are despite everything presented to a similar youth encounters that we as a whole had years prior. In todayââ¬â¢s society we are significantly more quick paced and promptly are attracted to gadgets, for example, PCs, TV, films, ipods, etcâ⬠¦ The desensitizing impact of this steady torrent of data on exceptionally little youngsters could prompt a kind of crumbling of esteems in a little kid. Proposed title: Back to the Basics: A Collection of Nursery Rhymes for Todayââ¬â¢s Child Presentation: Many of us got our own arrangements of qualities and ethics from what had been passed down to us through convention. A Nursery Rhyme is a sonnet or a tune, generally instructed to exceptionally little youngsters. Nursery Rhymes in the English language are generally British in inception, going back to the extent the sixteenth Century. Beside the ones imported from England, numerous Nursery Rhymes additionally created in North America (Encyclopedia Britannica on the web, 2008). These little tunes and sonnets structure a kind of representative ââ¬Å"backboneâ⬠to the proceeding with social and mental advancement of the American individuals and culture. Without a doubt, at its very center, a Nursery Rhyme is a kind of social impression. While most oral custom (ex: nursery rhymes) may sound increasingly like hogwash or misrepresented, moralistic stories set to a beat and a tune, they convey the emblematic load of previous eras (Bettelheim, 1976). Gone on through convention and brought alive by the minds of the very youngsters who hear them and pass them on, these rhymes bear the estimations of the way of life that made it. For instance, Humpty Dumptyââ¬â¢s story advises us that there are a few things that, when broken, can never be retouched. In another model, the Itsy Bitsy Spider addresses us of the estimation of steadiness. Here and there, a Nursery Rhyme isnââ¬â¢t only an ethical heritage, however a recorded one also: giving us how individuals lived or functioned during the specific time when these rhymes were made. For instance, while shepherding may never again be a typical calling, particularly in vigorously populated urban zones, even youngsters from the downtown know that it was at one time a lifestyle, on account of Little Bo Peep and her sheep. Method of reasoning: Nursery Rhymes have been in presence for a long time, however what precisely is the significance in proceeding in this convention? Kids are naturally brought into these accounts in light of the rhyme, there is musicality, and they are regularly about animals in any case unfathomable conditions, which drives the childââ¬â¢s own creative mind to meander. Notwithstanding being a successful vehicle through which a culture proliferates and saves itself, Nursery Rhymes are of specific significance in the advancement of a youthful childââ¬â¢s developing language and memory aptitudes. There is an explanation that today, much subsequent to growing up; we can in any case recall these little expressions. They have had incredible effect in our youth learning schemata and we accept that in the event that they keep on being reintroduced to the offspring of today, their effect would be profoundly gainful. We accept that this book will be an incredible hit among little youngsters and their folks, and that with the guide of brilliant representations, this book can be exceptionally valuable in advancing a childââ¬â¢s mental, mental, and social turn of events. Approach: After much consultation, we chose to restrain our choice to the most well-known and all around adored Nursery Rhymes. We glanced through a few assortments of nursery rhymes, both on the web and disconnected, and selected the ones that happened the most much of the time. Given that we intend to make this book a childrenââ¬â¢s book, we restricted our determination to just four Nursery Rhymes. We decided to do this so the book could oblige the outlines that we expectation will be incorporated as visual guides for the kids, without being excessively substantial or lumbering for even a little youngster to peruse and convey. These Nursery Rhymes are as per the following: Humpty Dumpty: Humpty Dumpty sat on a divider, Humpty Dumpty had an extraordinary fall. All the kingââ¬â¢s ponies, and all the kingââ¬â¢s men, Couldnââ¬â¢t Put Humpty together once more. Jack and Jill Jack and Jill went up the slope, To get a bucket of water. Jack tumbled down and broke his crown. Also, Jill came tumbling after The Itsy Bitsy Spider The Itsy Bitsy Spider Climbed up the water ramble. Down came the downpour And cleaned the insect out. Out came the sun And evaporated all the downpour, And the diminutive insect Climbed up the spout once more. Little Bo Peep Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep, And canââ¬â¢t advise where to discover them. Disregard them, And theyââ¬â¢ll get back home, Wagging their tails behind them. Much thanks for setting aside the effort to peruse and think about this. We anticipate your auspicious and positive answer! References Bettelheim, Bruno (1976). The Benefits of Laughing in the Office
The Benefits of Laughing in the Office As a kid, when you imagine getting a job and going to work every day, you have a serious picture in your head, probably you being dress formally and wearing a business case with you, rushing to your office where other people have dressed accordingly and act in a completely professional way. This is the picture most people have until they actually step into the business world and discover the variety of organizational cultures and realize that the picture they have had in their minds comes mostly from the movies theyâve seen, but also stays in the movies and usually has nothing to do with reality.Nowadays, most companies are trying to be as open as possible to employees and nurture the culture where everybody feels comfortable enough to share their opinion but also share their laugh.Often you can hear that the laughter is the best medicine, and actually, it has been proven. This doesnt stop being the truth the moment you step into your office.More and more companies are embracing t he fact that laughing in the office is actually contributing the company in many ways, and completely transforming organizational culture in order to empower people to laugh more.If you are looking for an explanation to this phenomenon or you are in a search for a way to implement this ideology in your company, you are looking at the right place.Weâll cover all the benefits of laughing in the office, as well as some useful tips to help everybody in the company laugh more.WHY THEY SAY LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINEYouve probably heard this many times before, even as you were a kid.You might recall complaining about a headache or a stomachache you had (sure, it was better to stop when you had enough, but who can tell how many cupcakes are enough) and the response you got from your mum or grandma was go and do something fun, donât think about itâ.You are aware now that this was coming from with the best intention, and that all your family wanted was for you to have a good laugh and relieve the pain, as it causes the release of endorphins, which are also known as âbodyâs natural feel-good chemicalsâ.It has been scientifically proven that laughter can actually improve your health. It triggers physical and emotional changes in people, leading to multiple benefits. For instance, laughter strengthens the immune system and also protects the body from consequences from stress that can harm people for life. When talking about stress relief, the laughter is positioned as number one.Not only that it relaxes entire body (leaving muscles relieved for the next 45 minutes), but it also boosts the mood which helps us feel better in any way.For those who are actually looking for a way to improve their health, laughing can be the way.Among other things, laughter benefits your heart condition by increasing blood flow and therefore protecting you from having a heart attack. Also, laughing is very good for your physical condition, as it burns calories, which not only hel ps you look better but also impacts your health in general. As children, we used to laugh each day and we didnât need any specific reason for that, but now in adulthood, we take things quite seriously and often forget to laugh at small enjoyable things life gives us, leaving them for the later. Therefore, it is up to us to start looking for opportunities to laugh and not forgetting to enjoy them, as no matter how serious life is, laughter can only improve it.7 REASONS TO START LAUGHING IN THE OFFICEBy now you probably have realized how beneficial laughter can be, but still, you might have doubts how can it be applied to your work.Hereâs how laughing helps people in your company, but also your company to progress and prosper.1. Leading with laughterThis one goes to all the bosses around. Everything starts from the top, including the laughter. There are many studies that show how the fact that the leader or a boss is open enough to laugh around the office with his or her employe es influences everyone else to be more open and ready to laugh, too. This breeds a healthy organizational culture where everybody feels comfortable and finds joy in work, thus resulting in a better outcome of the work.It takes courage from bosses to be more connected to their employees and show this side of them. Many fear that they will appear as unprofessional or risk their authority, but this doesnât have to be the case at all.On the contrary, leaders who show that can do the both â" be the expert in what they do, but also have good time gain much more respect than those who only show their professional side.Embrace the concept of leading with laughter and watch how it influences the people you lead.2. Making your employees feel good This is very important, as the one important quote says â" âif the flower doesnât bloom, you fix the environment, not the flowerâ. And this refers pretty much to the work environment.Have you ever considered how your employees feel, an d how their satisfaction contributes to the goals of the company? It has been proven that employees who are more satisfied with their work also end up being more productive and contribute to the company realizing their maximum potential. If you look from this perspective, enabling your employees to feel good should be your number one priority. And one simple thing you can start with and always do is make them laugh. This way you show them that you care about them, so they feel more accountable and take more care themselves when it comes to the company and completing their tasks.3. Showing your colleagues you trust themWhy we sometimes refrain ourselves from laughing at the work comes with our connecting of laughter to people who are close in our lives â" family members or good friends. We might find it inappropriate to start laughing at the workplace or making a joke with our colleagues, which can result in a strictly formal environment where employees have a hard time to feel connect ed.On the other hand, making jokes openly and sharing a good laugh shows people you trust them and you have no fear of being misunderstood or judged because of it.This encourages others to behave the same way, because who would mind a good laugh.By sharing laughs, we show that we trust people around us and enjoy spending time with them, which can really help employees feel better and therefore improve their performance.4. Building relationships Just imagine going to work every day and seeing your best friends. That would be a dream come true, right? It actually can be that way, just this time you have to reverse the process and let your colleagues become your best friends.Let us tell you a secret. This doesnt happen by talking about the report you have to file due Monday. This happens when you start having fun and sharing a good laugh. This can be over different things and it probably cant happen over the night, but there are many stories of long-term friendships that came out of the office.Think about how you can make somebody elseâs day at the office by sharing a laugh, and watch how your day becomes better.5. Building teamsIf you analyze all the teambuilding activities, you will realize that they are created for people to laugh while participating. This is due to the fact that people start connecting good memories with the team, which can be later carried forward to the work environment. When people find themselves enjoying time spent with a certain group of people, thatâs the most natural way of building the relationships.Strong relationships build teams. Teams build results. There is a quote I always like to refer to and it goesIf you want to fast, go alone. If you want to go far, then go together. You need a good team to create extraordinary things. This refers to the companies too.If you want to make a big change or a huge difference, you will need a well-connected team, and there is no better way to connect people than to allow them to share a good lau gh.6. Building customer relationships Now that you know how important laughter is when it comes to trusting people and connecting with them, you can imagine how powerful it would be if you did the same with your customers.Thereâs just one problem â" you canât work personally with all your customers. You need to teach your people the value of laughter. It is not easy to change the culture completely, so you have to go step by step. Make sure you lead them by example.Show them how good it feels to make a joke during the working time, or how confident you look while delivering it.As mentioned previously, it can be hard to change your behavior all of a sudden and start sharing jokes at the workplace, not to mention in front of the customers. But just imagine how relaxed would the customers feel if you appeared as someone who is an expert in the field, but also down to earth human being, willing to do good business. It would be much easier to create and nurture customer relationships, as they will start to perceive you as âa friendâ in some kind of a way.Bear in mind, jokes are good but dont make jokes about your customers.Make jokes about you and your company, enabling your customers to see you in even more friendly way.7. Improving your performanceWeâve talked a lot about other people in the company, but now itâs time to consider the most important one â" you.You are also part of some company or a startup, no matter how small or big it is. It is also equally important for you to laugh in the office, no matter of the position you hold or title that stands under your name.If you want to start performing better and stand out amongst others â" whether its internally or externally including other stakeholders or competition, you have to think about yourself, how you feel at the workplace and what you can do to feel better. As mentioned previously, it is quite simple. If you donât know where to start, start from yourself and make yourself laugh. You donâ t have to be ashamed of that or think if somebody is going to resent it to you. They are all human beings and desire similar things, itâs just that you stood out as a leader and started the initiative.Think about what makes you laugh and for which work environment you would say that is perfect. Then go and make it for yourself. You have also heard many times how contagious laughing is, and you will experience it at the beginning of your quest. Before you even realize, you will find yourself coming to work with a bigger and bigger smile and finish things with more joy. This will reflect on your work and results, and you will definitely become noticed as the most positive person who knows their way to do outstanding things. Who would mind being perceived like that, right?HOW TO START AND NURTURE THE LAUGHTER CULTUREBelieve it or not, as all things in the universe, the solution is quite simple. Here are some tips on how to start implementing laughter culture in your office.1. Share with others something funny you have seenTake some time to watch a comedy movie or a show and make sure you share it with your colleagues.Better yet, organize a movie night with people from your company and make sure you pick a movie that will make you all laugh for a long time.Even though itâs just a movie night, you will find yourselves laughing over and over while recapping the funniest scenes. If you donât have a possibility to do this, then just go ahead and find a funny video online you would like to share with your colleagues. You can share it with them or show them directly on your phone during some break. They will all be thankful for they will feel refreshed and ready to continue amazing work.2. Be sillyIf you are already an open and expressive person, this probably wonât be that hard for you.Even if you feel scared, just remember that somebody needs to start. And that somebody is you. That is why you are reading this right now.So go ahead and act naturally, as you would act around your friends. This doesnt lower your expertise or make you less valued; it just shows that you are so confident in what you know that you dont mind showing your silly side.People will be really thankful to you the moment they start behaving themselves this way, as you were the one that showed them in the first place that this is okay and made them feel confident enough to do it.3. Organize laughing activitiesHave you ever heard of a laughing yoga? This is a unique type of yoga that practices laughter as good for your health and wellbeing. Why wouldnât you find the nearest yoga center to your office and ask everybody to join you?Or better yet, in agreement with yoga center organize free laughing yoga courses for all employees. This shows how much you care and how far you are willing to go and invest in order for people in your company to feel good, be healthy and enjoy their work.It also emphasizes how important you find laughing, which will subconsciously lead them to thin k more about laughing and encourage them to be silly in your presence.FINAL WORDâMy dog used to chase people on a bike a lot. It got so bad; finally, I had to take his bike away. Haha, I bet I made you laugh.Or I didnt, but you still laughed at my failed attempt. You see how something so simple as this silly and short joke can influence how you feel in a moment. Imagine how big impact you could make if you practiced this every day with all the people who work with you.Whether you are a boss looking for a way to get closer to your employees or you are an employee looking for a way to feel better at work, this is the perfect place for you to start. And probably is the easiest solution that exists. All you have to do is laugh and encourage others to do the same. When you take into consideration all the benefits that come from laughing â" reducing stress and conflicts, improving your immune system, boosting the mood, releasing the pain, fighting mental and physical illness you canâ t ignore how much of effect it has on your work. There is just one message â" laugh more so you can achieve more.

Organic Compounds - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 3 Words: 996 Downloads: 6 Date added: 2017/09/16 Category Biology Essay Type Argumentative essay Did you like this example? Organic compound From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Methane is one of the simplest organic compoundsAn organic compound is any member of a large class of chemical compounds whose molecules contain carbon. For historical reasons discussed below, a few types of carbon-containing compounds such as carbonates, simple oxides of carbon and cyanides, as well as the allotropes of carbon such as diamond and graphite, are considered inorganic. The distinction between organic and inorganic carbon compounds, while useful in organizing the vast subject of chemistry s somewhat arbitrary. [1] Organic chemistry is the science concerned with all aspects of organic compounds. Organic synthesis is the methodology of their preparation. Contents [hide] 1 History 1. 1 Vitalism 1. 2 Modern classification 2 Classification 2. 1 Natural compounds 2. 2 Synthetic compounds 3 Nomenclature 4 Databases 5 Structure determination 6 See also 7 References 8 External links [edit] History [edit] Vitalism The name organic is historical, dating back to the 1st century. [citation needed] For many centuries, Western alchemists believed in vitalism. This is the theory that certain compounds could only be synthesized from their classical elements ââ¬â Earth, Water, Air and Fire ââ¬â by action of a life-force (vis vitalis) possessed only by organisms. Vitalism taught that these organic compounds were fundamentally different from the inorganic compounds that could be obtained from the elements by chemical manipulation. Vitalism survived for a while even after the rise of modern atomic theory and the replacement of the Aristotelian elements by those we know today. It first came under question in 1824, when Friedrich Wohler synthesized oxalic acid, a compound known to occur only in living organisms, from cyanogen. [citation needed] A more decisive experiment was Wohlers 1828 synthesis of urea from the inorganic salts potassium cyanate and ammonium sulfate . Urea had long been considered to be an organic compound as it was known to occur only in the urine of living organisms. Wohlers experiments were followed by many others, where increasingly complex organic substances were produced from inorganic ones without the involvement of any living organism. citation needed] [edit] Modern classification Even after vitalism had been disproved, the distinction between organic and inorganic compounds has been retained through the present. The modern meaning of organic compound is any one of them that contains a significant amount of carbon even though many of the organic compounds known today have no connection whatsoever with any substance found in living organisms. There is no official definition of an organic compound. Some text books define an organic compound as one containing one or more C-H bonds; others include C-C bonds in the definition. Others state that if a molecule contains carbon it is organic. [2] Even the broader definition of carbon-containing molecules requires the exclusion of carbon-containing alloys (including steel), a relatively small number of carbon-containing compounds such as metal carbonates and carbonyls, simple oxides of carbon and cyanides, as well as the allotropes of carbon and simple carbon halides and sulfides, which are usually considered to be inorganic. The C-H definition excludes compounds which are historically and practically considered to be organic. Neither urea nor oxalic acid are organic by this definition, yet they were two key compounds in the vitalism debate. The IUPAC Blue Book on organic nomenclature specifically mentions urea[3] and oxalic acid. [4] Other compounds lacking C-H bonds that are also traditionally considered to be organic include benzenehexol, mesoxalic acid, and carbon tetrachloride. Mellitic acid, which contains no C-H bonds, is considered to be a possible organic substance in Martian soil. All do, however, contain C-C bonds. [5] The C-H bond only rule also leads to somewhat arbitrary divisions in sets of carbon-fluorine compounds, as for example Teflon is considered by this rule inorganic but Tefzel organic; similarly many Halons are considered inorganic while the rest are organic. For these and other reasons, most sources consider C-H compounds to be only a subset of organic compounds. To summarize: Most carbon-containing compounds are organic, and most compounds with a C-H bond are organic. Not all organic compounds necessarily contain C-H bonds (e. g. urea). [edit] Classification See Classification of organic compounds Organic compounds may be classified in a variety of ways. One major distinction is between natural and synthetic compounds. Organic compounds can also be classified or subdivided by the presence of heteroatoms, e. g. organometallic compounds which feature bonds between carbon and a metal, and organophosphorus compounds which feature bonds between carbon and a phosphorus. Another distinction, based upon the size of organic compounds, distinguishes between small molecules and polymers. [edit] Natural compounds Natural compounds refer to those that are produced by plants or animals. Many of these are still extracted from natural sources because they would be far too expensive to be produced artificially. Examples include most sugars, some alkaloids and terpenoids, certain nutrients such as vitamin B12, and in general, those natural products with large or stereoisometrically complicated molecules present in reasonable concentrations in living organisms. Further compounds of prime importance in biochemistry are antigens, carbohydrates, enzymes, hormones, lipids and fatty acids, neurotransmitters, nucleic acids, proteins, peptides and amino acids, lectins, vitamins and fats and oils. edit] Synthetic compounds Compounds that are prepared by reaction of other compounds are referred to as synthetic. They may be either compounds that already are found in plants or animals (semi synthetic compounds), or those that do not occur naturally. Most polymers (a category which includes all plastics and rubbers), are organic compounds. [edit] Nomenclature The IUPAC nomenclature of organic compounds slightly differs from the CAS nomenclature. [edit] Databases The CAS database is the most comprehensive repository for data on organic compounds. The search tool SciFinder is offered. The Beilstein database contains information on 9. 8 million substances, covers the scientific literature from 1771 to the present, and is today accessible via CrossFire. Structures and a large diversity of physical and chemical properties is available for each substance, with reference to original literature. PubChem contains 18. 4 million entries on compounds and especially covers the field of medicinal chemistry. There is a great number of more specialized databases for diverse branches of organic chemistry. [edit] Structure determination Donââ¬â¢t waste time! As the year progressed, we were all subjected to coursework the likes of which simply did not exist in junior high.à We had to learn grammar, diagram sentences, write essay upon essay and read countless novels and plays without the luxury of Cliffââ¬â¢s Notes.à This era was pre-internet study aids!à We tried to complain that we had no foundation for this to which Mrs. Rose replied, ââ¬Å"If that is true, it is neither your fault nor mine.à Unfortunately, we must correct it.â⬠She could blend just the right amount of feeling for my battle with the semi-colon with the rigor of the curriculum itself.à She let my misuse go a couple of times, but on the third incident, I got an ââ¬ËFââ¬â¢ for punctuation in my essay.à I was floored and asked her to let me revise it (again).à She said ââ¬Å"no.â⬠à From that point on, I have never, to my knowledge, misused a semicolon; however, I find such examples frequently in magazines and newspapers now.à Again, that particular strategy worked wonders for me and all the others in my class.à Her encouragement wasnââ¬â¢t overdone, but I could tell she really wanted me to learn. At times, I would be seized by jealousy when my friends in other classes would laugh at how easy their English class was, how like 8th grade it was, and how they were getting easy ââ¬ËAââ¬â¢s.à I had to work hard for my grades and resented their extra free time.à Later, though, I understood the importance of my 9th grade English class and Mrs. Rose.à I did not struggle nearly as much as my peers in upper level high school classes and in college courses where professors were even more demanding.à I firmly believe that Mrs. Rose knew more about grammar and writing than any of them and was grateful that I had a chance to learn from her early on in my education rather than have to suffer later. Mrs. Rose, who I believe has now passed away, was an exemplary teacher.à Try as I might, I could never devise a sentence she could not diagram.à She seemed to take pride in my educational victories, such as my high SAT verbal score and my college acceptance.à As a result, I decided to become a teacher myself and attempt to emulate Mrs. Rose in all that I do in my classes.à I, from experience now, know that Mrs. Rose did not receive any monetary rewards for her commitment to teaching.à In fact, our rewards as teachers are much more internal.à However, I am confident that she knew her influence on me because I told her, as did many other students I knew.à When a student tells me how much I have helped them, I know how she felt then. à How to cite Mrs. Rose ââ¬â The ninth grade task master!, Essay examples

Power Does Not Come From A Gun Essays - Pacifism, Nonviolence
Power Does Not Come From a Gun Power. A word from which many meanings derive. To each individual, it means something distinct and it is how one uses their power that makes up who they are. Power does not come from the barrel of a gun. A gun can do nothing without someone there to pull the trigger. The power to take a life rests within the person, the gun simply serving as their tool. When groups protesting for a cause they believe in use violent tactics, do they ever accomplish anything? When we kill , what do we achieve? To say that power lies in the barrel of a gun is to say that the most effective way to get what we want, or what we feel we deserve is to murder. It is only those with no faith in their dreams, or belief in themselves who could make such a statement. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "If a man hasn't found something he will die for, he isn't fit to live." A leader in the Black community and the recipient of the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize, King's accomplishment of attaining civil rights for Blacks was a great one, but the road to achievement was long and full of sacrifices. It was a time when Blacks had no rights and most of them accepted this as the way it was and no one could do anything about it. Most of them, but not King. When the police arrested a black woman for sitting in the front of the bus and refusing to give up her seat to a white woman, King led a committee that organized a boycott of buses. The results were that on April 23, 1956, the Supreme Court ruled that "segregation in public transportation is unconstitutional" and that South Carolina as well as 12 other states must remove the "whites only" signs that hung in the front of the buses. This was just the beginning, he vowed to continue his fight using "passive resistance and the weapon of love". He helped establish the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and became its first president. Then in 1957, King met with Vice-president Nixon in Washington to "discuss racial problems . He went on to lead protests, demonstrations and marches, making the non-violent resistance stronger than it had ever been before. He succeeded in making people aware that every human being is born equal and that no one should be denied his civil rights. Martin Luther King had a dream and he knew that there was only one way to make it come true, to wake up and to take action. He was a true example of someone putting their power to good use. He started his life with a disadvantage, he was hated because of the color of his skin, but he did not let that stop him. He was arrested, thrown in jail, stabbed, stoned, he even had his home bombed. Through it all, he refused to give up, he had found a cause worth dying for and he did. He was murdered on the night of April 4, 1968. People tried to use their power to stop him and his fight. In the end, they may have succeeded in killing its leader, but the battle against racism lived on. Looking back, people say that Martin Luther King Jr. was a very powerful man. I have never heard anyone say his attackers or his murderers had. "I am indeed, a practical dreamer. My dreams are not airy nothings. I want to convert my dreams into realities, as far as possible." Mahatma is the name the people of India gave to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The meaning is Great Soul, and they considered him as the father of their nation. He named his autobiography, "The story of My Experiments With Truth." That was, after all, what his life was about: the truth and his search to find it. He was against violence in any form, he felt there existed better methods of accomplishing things, and he proved to be successful. he made up his won technique for social action that he called satyagraha, "non-violent resistance to injustice and wrong." Gandhi's actions were guided by

Writing a Nursing Essay
Writing a Nursing Essay Similar to residency essays, a nursing essay is used by nursing school admissions directors to find those students whom theyd like to consider for their program. Thousands of hopefuls apply for nursing school each year, many of whom have similar GPAs and collegiate backgrounds. The essay helps distinguish the individuals from their educational statistics. When writing a nursing school essay (or any personal essay for that matter) it helps to be as candid as possible. Admissions directors want to know as much about their applicants as possible, however, they cant afford to give each and every essay a tremendous amount of time. In other words, dont sugar coat the message. Be unique in your approach, but factual and to-the-point as well. Another thing to remember when writing an essay for nursing is to include points relative to the subject. Offer specific examples as to why you are choosing a career in nursing. The more detailed you can be, the easier it will be for the readers to identify and/or sympathize with your decision. Exercise similar precision when discussing why you are applying to the school in question. Writing a nursing essay is a difficult task that is as much professional as it is personally revealing. For more information about writing admissions essays or if you would like help in writing an essay for a residency program, please dont hesitate to contact me. Interview How to sometimes say no to your editor
Interview How to sometimes say no to your editor How to sometimes say 'no' to your editor - An interview with Gale Winskill Our 9th #freelancerfriday interview: ââ¬Å"It does really worry me when authors take every suggestion that I make and implement it. I worry that they donââ¬â¢t believe enough in their own book. An author should always feel they can come back and say ââ¬Å"I hate your suggestions but I accept that my original doesnââ¬â¢t work.â⬠Thatââ¬â¢s healthy and thatââ¬â¢s good. They can understand why youââ¬â¢ve made the criticism, but can then go away and find their own solution to a problem.â⬠Gale Winskillà is a great editor. She offers the full set of editorial services, with a portfolio proving experience in an enormous variety of genres - including a strong background in editing childrenââ¬â¢s fiction. Below we talk plot-structure, polyediting, and a healthy way to work with an editor. Enjoy! What services do you provide?Mostly editing, proofreading and critiques, although I also do some training. I work with a variety of genres: a lot of fiction editing, bot h for adults and for children; a lot of academic editing for non-native speakers of English; non-fiction; childrenââ¬â¢s picture books; and manuscript critiques. Are there differences between editing adult and childrenââ¬â¢s fiction? Not very many. The basics of plot structure are essentially the same for both. The main difference is checking that the content is appropriate for the age group, that youââ¬â¢re talking about subjects that they can understand and follow, and that the language level is also suitable for the age category concerned. What do editors do for authors? The editor is the most critical reader you will ever encounter as an author. As an editor your role is partly to spot things that will be criticised, as well as whatââ¬â¢s strong. An editor tries to make sure that the author doesnââ¬â¢t fall into those pitfalls. The author has an opportunity to address any weakness that might open their workà up to criticism before the book goes to print. The editor is very much a reader, first and foremost. Two editors will never think the same way, just asà two readers will find different things in the same text. I may have to tell an author that I can see why they did something one way, but that it may be perceived in a different way by readers. But how the author decides to address that is up to them. Your professional duty as an editor extends to telling an author what strikes you about a text, but at the end of the day itââ¬â¢s the authorââ¬â¢s prerogative to ignore everything an editor says, as ultimately itââ¬â¢s their book.Is working with multiple editors a good practice for authors? Does having second opinions help?I think it usually ends up a mess. An author should find an editor they like and - while they donââ¬â¢t have to agree with everything the editor says - one they can work with.à If you have multiple editors it can be confusing. I might feel a particular character doesnââ¬â¢t work for a particular reason, wh ereas another editor might not see a problem. For authors, I donââ¬â¢t see how they can follow one personââ¬â¢s train of thought if theyââ¬â¢re trying to compare that with another personââ¬â¢s train of thought. However, thereââ¬â¢s a different argument for having more than one critique of a book. It might be interesting to see what various people pick up from reading a book without having them pull it apart. What kind of advice are you able to give an author?Judging by the responses of my authors, Iââ¬â¢m good at spotting the weaknesses in a text and offering suggestions on how to resolve it. It does really worry me when authors take every suggestion that I make and implement it. They can understand why youââ¬â¢v e made the criticism, but can then go away and find their own solution to a problem. Authors have told me that they knew something wasnââ¬â¢t working but couldnââ¬â¢t work out why. Once they know the reason they can go away and redraft it. I think authors prefer to be told when a book isnââ¬â¢t publishable in itââ¬â¢s current state but that it could be made to work if they do this and that, as opposed to publishing online and being slated. Authors appreciate criticism so long as itââ¬â¢s constructive, justified, and given in a diplomatic fashion. When should an author approach you with a work-in-progress? After the first draft is completed?Unless Iââ¬â¢ve worked with an author for a while and Iââ¬â¢m familiar with their work, I donââ¬â¢t like working on a book in pieces. As I work through the book I may change my mind about what I said in the first few chapters. If people send the work piecemeal, I donââ¬â¢t get a sense of the whole. I suggest to new author s that until theyââ¬â¢re at the end of the process and are ready to submit it for editing, my seeing it doesnââ¬â¢t benefit them. Itââ¬â¢s more constructive when the editorââ¬â¢s opinion is formed in one go.Thank you for your time Gale.

Religious Education Resource Package Speech or Presentation
Religious Education Resource Package - Speech or Presentation Example It is essential for a teacher to be aware of what to teach during RE classes and why to teach it. In most Catholic schools, RE is accounted for in timetables and programs for teaching for over two hours every week. For the time spent in RE classes, the students will learn about the life of Jesus Christ and about Catholic traditions. Learning about the seven sacraments and practicing them will aid the students in exploration of the traditions of the Catholic Church and the way it works in their lives. Christian life should be about the seven sacraments (Holy Spirit Interactive, 2009). For this reason, the seven sacraments have a vital place in all Christiansââ¬â¢ lives, which necessitates teaching them to young Christians. In the Christian journey of faith, the seven sacraments act as the signs of the presence of God (Bausch, 2003). Therefore, the community, parents, and teachers of Catholic communities must play their role and be responsible for the provision of opportunities to l earn and engage in these sacraments to Catholic K-2 level students. Sacrament of Conversion allows Catholic Christians to renew their baptism and follow Jesus Christââ¬â¢s example. ... Sacraments are Jesus Christââ¬â¢s extensions because they are symbolic of Jesusââ¬â¢ actions and extensions of the actions of God. These actions are an oath via which Catholic Christians seek witnessing and verification from God. Catholics ask for verification and witnessing that all they do is good and true, which is what the Sacraments call Christians to do (Crowe, 2005). Every Sacrament is a dispensation of life in the comprehension that we are born, or renew our Christian beliefs and life through the Sacrament (Fosarelli, 2012). The Sacrament of Conversionââ¬â¢s importance comes through the effect that it has on individuals. According to the Catholic Churchââ¬â¢s Catechism, the Sacrament of Penance has several effects including (Williams, 2008); Reconciliation with the Catholic Church Reconciliation with God Increasing of spiritual strength required in the battle of Christianity Spiritual consolation and serenity and peace of conscience Reconciliation with Godââ¬â¢ s Church Partial remission of temporal punishment that comes from sin Remission of Godââ¬â¢s eternal punishment because of mortal sin Resources for Background Knowledge Books White, J. D., & White, A. A. (2004): Teach it: Penance and reconciliation. This book is especially meant to be used in RE programs for teachers. It follows the teachings of the Catholic Church and is based on the Bible and the Catholic Church Catechism. In addition, the authors dwell in their introduction on the role that teachers and parents have to play in preparing the children for their first and subsequent Sacrament of Penance, while also including practical ways that seek to involve teachers and parents more in the RE program. Majority of the activities in this book are easy to

Human resources management Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Human resources management - Case Study Example In higher developing countries like China, customers are facing late deliveries and bad services because of the dealers. Apart from few verified dealers, majority of others are inefficient and incapable of proper servicing. As a result, high end customers often get distraught due to these lazy and inefficient deals. Considering the current issues in China as the foundation, the case study will evaluate the establishment and milestones achieved by Benz in China. Then the case will move on to describe the incidences which led to the overall decrease of sales performance in China (Barchan, 1999). The evaluation of experiences and evidences and analysis of the case will lead to various future strategies. These strategies as well as those selected for the long term growth and development of the automobile company will also be discussed. Behind the Scenes: The Firm Mercedes-Benz is a German brand known for its high quality motor vehicles for business and private customers. Their era starte d in the year 1886 when Karl Benz created the first petrol-powered car. Right now Mercedes-Benz is an international company with factories all around the globe and employs more than 100 000 people. The company is also involved in providing associated primary services. It is currently headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. The company is famous for its sports and lifestyles vehicles. The organization provides a supportive work environment for its employees. In order to ensure that, employees consider the brand as best place to work, the company engages in various developmental programmes, performance appraisals, insurance and health care benefits programmes, outdoor activities tec. Being in automotive sector, the overall organizational structure of Benz is complex. A separate team handles every region around the globe. Constant communication is required between the marketing and production team. Thus, overall structure of the organization can be considered as lateral and open. Section 2 The Story The year 2012 proved to be bad year for Mercedes Benz. The German carmaker slipped from numero uno to further to third position in the luxury car segment. The performance in China had deteriorated further. In spite of the sharp increase in sales of luxury cars, Benz posted a meagre growth of 4 percent. Further research into the matter exposed two critical factors. First was the poor quality of the cars. After complaints from consumers regarding faulty vehicle parts and hazardous interior materials, the company had to recall many of its vehicles. Another issue which came into light was low quality of customer service. This was evident from the huge number of customer complaints posted over internet in the past two years. The after sales service of the German car maker did not meet its expected brand image. Customer complaints were also found in case of imported Benz cars and the poor quality of the C and E class Benz cars. As a result, the overall rating of Mercedes-Benz in customer service fell way beyond industry average. This was more so in case of China, where it fell below local Chinese brands such as Geely, Roewe and Chery. As the company failed to

Fish Crate Christmas :: English Literature Essays
Fish Crate Christmas This is the time of year I like to sit back and take a visit to my earlier years when times were really tough. When I was a kid, we were so poor; the people on Welfare were considered better off. My father usually got laid off from his bricklaying job around this time so things got really got tight. We had coal and wood burning stoves to cook and keep warm. My grandfather would go to the fish market and get old crates to chop up for firewood. My Grandfather always cut extra wood to sell so he could buy our turkey. Meanwhile, my brother and I would take our wagon and go to the coal yard to buy a bag of coal for 60 cents. My family would never accept charity from anyone so we were left to our own resources. My Mother and Grandmother would buy a crate of celery and go door to door selling it. My brother and I would run errands for the businesses uptown to make money for Christmas gifts. On the day before Christmas, my Great Grandmother would start the cooking and baking. Everybody in the family had a part to do. In my thoughts, I can clearly smell once again the delightful smell of the cookies and that wonderful turkey. I can feel the warmth of that old coal stove, and most of all, I can still feel the warmth of the love within the family. Right up the alley from my house, was the Zion Lutheran Church, where the Boy Scouts sold Christmas trees every year. Somehow they always had one too many and they would ask us to take it off their hands. My Father, brother, and I would sit for hours changing light bulbs trying to find the one that was bad in the string of lights from last year. After much frustration, we finally got them to work. Then we finally felt like it was really Christmas and we promised each other that somehow next year, we would get new lights. Around 4:30 P.M., my brother and I would head up the street to the Woolworth five and dime store to buy our presents. There were the oversized ties that nobody would ever wear and the hair pins that would sit in a drawer for years to come. But everybody was happy to receive the presents because a lot more went into buying them than just money.

Development Assistance Essay
The best way for international donors to quicken development in poor Asian countries is to maximize overseas developmental assistance. ODA should be provided both to governments directly and to international and local NGOs. â⬠Development can be considered as one of the most omnipresent concepts today. This term had been a commonplace in governments and non-governmental organizations alike (Nault, 2008). Overseas developmental assistance also referred to as official overseas assistance (ODA), had been a vital part of world economies especially to those who belong to the third world. As early as 1960s, underdeveloped and developing countries have seen the importance of receiving grants in forms of ODA from more developed countries (Berlage and Stokke, 1992) It is now given that most of the countries, which are underdeveloped, or those who are still in the process of developing are indeed in great need of ODAs coming from their more developed counterparts. The lack of resources on the part of the poor countries makes them suffer the opportunity cost of not attending to other pressing issues in within their territories. This paper will present arguments in two fold. First, it will make a point on how international donors can quicken development in poor Asian countries by maximizing the amount it gives through ODAs. Second, it will argue on why is there a necessity to give funds directly to international and local NGOs rather than just giving it to the government; it having the sole discretion on the fundsââ¬â¢ disbursement. Similar to the case in developed countries, rising and relentless budget deficits had become one of the major causes for concern in developing countries. Asian countries have been suffering from massive budget deficits for the past recent years (Gupta, 1992). Given that most of the developing and underdeveloped countries are suffering from budget deficit, there really is a need that ODAs should be intensified in order to address other social concerns that are being neglected by the governments due to lack of budget. These social concerns, which deals with welfare and other public issues are often taken for granted by governments despite their noble ideas because they lack resources in financing these programs. If resources will be provided through ODA, the local government will be better equipped of bringing service to their people. Aside from mere economic progress, development must also entail improvements with regard to life expectancy, education levels, literacy, and access to resources (Nault, 2008). With more funds, which are easily available to finance social programs of the government, people may easily reap the benefits of ODAs coming from developed countries. The funds coming from the ODA can be allocated to programs aimed at empowering the grassroots and improving the living conditions of the people. With regard to economic progress, there is also a great need for the funds, which are given by more developed countries. Given the lack of resources of underdeveloped countries, they have no enough assets to stimulate their respective economies. Nowadays, government-initiated economic policies are necessary to save the worsening condition of the global economy. The world economy is being threatened by massive recessions. Hence, there is a necessity for state intervention in stimulating the economy. ODAs can be used by the government to back up state-initiated economic programs aimed at ameliorating the countryââ¬â¢s economy. ODAs may be used as capital by the government and also as investment so that it would yield to higher profits in the future. ODAs can also be used by the government in coming up with schemes that will help protect the economy from the global trend of economic downturns by implementing regulations, which will somehow put safety nets to the national economy. ODAs may be used in employment training and job creation in order to assure that the citizens of the country are equipped with appropriate knowledge, which they may use in finding employment. Having established the necessity of increasing the amount of ODAs being transferred by developed countries to their poorer and less fortunate counterparts of Asia, the argumentation will shift towards the necessity of diverting funds not only to state governments but to non-governmental organizations as well. First, the author of this paper acknowledges the vital role being played by the government with regard to managing ODAs. Much substance have been given earlier in this paper and it is beyond argumentation that state-government acceptance of ODAs is indeed necessary. However, a new concept is being realized and offered which relates to the offering of ODAs from developed nations directly to international and local NGOs in the country. Perhaps one of the reasons to such proposition is the lessening trust of developed nations to their underdeveloped counterparts in Asia when it comes with governance. Many Asian countries, especially those who are financially-burdened, are often described in the international arena as engaging in the process of corruption. Documented evidence is being studied to support such claim (Lindsey and Dick, 2002). Good governance within the public sphere is indeed crucial in creating an environment, which will help mobilize resources, both domestically and internationally as well (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2002). Grantors of ODAs take into consideration the political climate within the country, which will receive their grant. They give premium to those who are practicing good governance. However, most countries in Asia had been involved in cases related to corruption. Hence, they do not appear as flawless to those who are sending them their ODAs. On the other hand, NGOs send a message of altruism to the international community. These NGOs project an image that they are indeed concerned in bringing progress to the countries where they have offices in. They appear as the good guys, whose business is to promote the welfare of the oppressed. NGOs are also offering programs that are aimed at bringing progress and development to their host countries. Sometimes, such programs from the NGOs are not being offered by state-governments. Another point is the fact that since grantors of aids are losing trust to corrupt governments, they are finding alternative channels to send their ODAs to residents of the receiving countries. Most NGOs in the international levels have earned themselves of the reputation to help others due to their noble causes. In spite of the manner as to how developed countries will be sending in their grants, what matters most is the fact that these grants are indeed helpful in bring progress and development to underdeveloped countries. Analysis Of The Pearl Of Great Price - 1207 Words
Turning to the Lord will lead to spiritual growth and refinement. This paper will discuss several different points about how adversity leads all of Godââ¬â¢s children to grow spiritually. After explaining what adversity is, it will then expound on why it is so necessary to face it in this life. It will explain what benefits come because of it, also how to differentiate it from the devilââ¬â¢s temptation, and Godââ¬â¢s love, and lastly how it is possible to manage it. By understanding adversity one will be able to prepare and accept trials with hope and faith, and strengthen relationships with Heavenly Father. Adversity is any type of trial in oneââ¬â¢s life. It is sickness, injury, family problems, heartache, tribulation, the list continues on and on. There are many wonderful examples of adversity in the Pearl of Great Price, which will be discussed further. There are two main types of adversity. One is that God loves all his children and he knows exactly what each one needs in order to prove him or herself worthy. There is no fault in this person; it is the way it needs to be due to certain situations, such as an illness, or accident for example. It is a natural way of life. God has an individual plan for all of his children, which he demonstrates by telling Moses part of his plan. Malcolm X s Impact On Society s Function - 1531 Words
Malcolm X, Malcolm Little or El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, are all different names to one heroic figure. No two people can differ on the impact that Malcolm X has left, not only on the African-American society, but also on the world as a whole. Born in Omaha, Nebraska USA in May 19, 1925 Malcolm X ideologies in life and philosophy were really a result of several life events that he struggled with and experienced while growing up. Between loosing his parents, being bullied in school and finally having Prison sentence, El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz decided that some changes should be arranged in the societyââ¬â¢s function. Starting from there, he became a man with a message and a mission. Malcolm X was seeking a change, a step forward and a ray of light. After going through a lot in his life, Malcolm X was detriment to be the burning candle that illuminates the roads for others. Almost 50 years later since his death, a lot of people still look up to him as a spiritual leader and still consid er him an icon when it comes to civil and human rights movements. Today, in a world that is moving in the path of equality and unity, we can only think of those who built the early stages of this ground we all stand equally tall above. Thanks to influential people like Malcolm X, we can today see the impotency and the growth of the seeds he grew back in his days. The Dystopian Warning in Ray Bradburys Fahrenheit 451
The typical utopian world that people dream of consists of freedom, equality and political order. Dystopian fiction, however, is only the illusion of a perfect world. In reality, a dystopia is the complete opposite of a utopian society. It is commonly written to warn the reader of what might come if a certain way of life continues. In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury predicted many issues that plague society today. The larger societal and individual issues Bradbury warns against are the consequences from the lack of social interactions, the spread and focus on technology, and the rise in violence. When it comes to social interactions in Bradburyââ¬â¢s world, people tend to avoid discussion and other normal contact with one another. This lack of communication can be evident in modern day as well. In a conversation at the beginning of the novel, Clarisse tells Montag, ââ¬Å"ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢m antisocial, they say. I donââ¬â¢t mixââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (29). However, Clarisse is truly gregarious as she converses with her family and Montag while other people avoid people.Society pegs her as different and strange. In todayââ¬â¢s world, people are more absorbed with their own lives than the lives of the people that surround them. Even with social networking, there is less face-to-face contact. It has become normal to communicate over the internet and other networks instead of speaking in person. Clarisse is the oddity in her world. Montag explains to Mildred what Clarisse was like, ââ¬Å"ââ¬ËBut Clarisseââ¬â¢s favorite subject wasnââ¬â¢t herself. Internet censorship Free Essays
Internet censorship Introduction Internet censorship is carried out by governments for many reasons to prevent users from accessing certain sites and sharing information. It restricts Internet users from accessing certain information and also controls what can be published or viewed. It can be used in response to riots, protests and elections, since the internet makes it very easy for events like these to be organized. We will write a custom essay sample on Internet censorship or any similar topic only for you Order Now Internet censorship has been going on for the past decade and has caused rise too lot of controversy. It vanes for different countries and has become a big Issue relating to human rights and redeem. Advantages Internet censorship has many advantages. It can protect citizens from inappropriate content, for example a child will be protected from any websites showing adult content Like pornography. It can also help reduce and prevent Illegal activity. For example, illegally downloading music. It has also been initiated to prevent riots and protests, like with the Arab Spring. The Internet made spreading the news of protests and riots very easy, leading to more revolutionary acts. This caused Internet in some of these countries to be completely inaccessible at times. Another advantage is that he chance of online identity theft is reduced, which protects citizens from identity theft happening to them. The amount of spam and viruses Is also less which protects your computer. Disadvantages The main disadvantage of Internet censorship is that it restricts access to information. This violates a human right, which is to be able to gain knowledge. This could also Limit educational resources. The freedom of speech and freedom of self- expression Is also restricted, which are also human rights violations. Internet censorship gives the Government power over Its citizens since they can control what s accessible and what is not. This can allow the Government to manipulate and control people. And even if the Internet censorship is seen as good and successful, many people are able to bypass the censorship. For example, by making use of proxy servers. This defeats the whole purpose on censoring the Internet in the first place. Although It may not seem as Important, Internet censorship also widens social gaps. It makes It harder for people to communicate. Censorship systems also cost money, and if they can be bypassed by citizens this makes them a waste of money. Businesses can be negatively impacted too due to not being able to access the best resources and not being accessible themselves. Major parties Involved China has the most strict internet censorship in the world. Internet filtering and censorship in China is referred to as ââ¬ËThe Great Fire Wallââ¬â¢. Anything discussing the Dalai Lama, Fallen Gong and general websites including Faceable, Twitter and Youth are blocked. All pornographic or politically disruptive content is deleted. Even the Internet access of individuals is monitored. They do this because of many anti-Japanese, anti-pollution, anti-corruption and ethnic riots which have been organized in the past with the use of Internet. Chinaââ¬â¢s Internet police has a size of 30,000. However, some users are able to evade the controlling of the Internet by using proxy servers. North Korea Most people in North Korea are not able to get online. A small amount is able to access an internal Intranet that connects to state media, called Agamemnon, which is highly controlled and censored. Only elite members, foreign residents and visitors in special hotels are allowed full access to the Internet. The Government is in full control of all media outlets and all news comes from one source, The Korean Central News Agency. They control the Internet to be able to control the information given to residents about politics and to be able to make the leaders of North Korea (Kim Gong- IL and Kim Gong-UN) look as good as possible. Cuba Only 5% of Cubans have access to the global Internet. This is due to tight control, high costs and slow connections. 23% have access to a government intranet with limited content. Cuban Internet is out of date due to the US embargo, lack of funding ND the Governmentââ¬â¢s fear of freedom to access all information. Cuban citizens get around the censorship by using embassies, coffee shops or illegally purchasing other peopleââ¬â¢s surnames and passwords who are allowed Internet access. Iran Iran blocks many Western sites like Faceable and Twitter and anything that may oppose politics or show anything sexually explicit. A plan was announced that they were going to create their own fully monitored domestic Internet. But many people believe separating a domestic internet from the worldwide Net completely is not possible. How to cite Internet censorship, Papers

Sensors Satellite Observations and Modeling â⬠MyAssignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about the Sensors Satellite Observations and Modeling. Answer: Introduction: The report introduces the concept of oil slick detection. The pollution that is caused by the oil needs to be protected. The use of the SAR and MODIS imagery technique is used in order to protect the oil pollution. The oil slick is the layer or the thin film of oil that is floating in the water (Sun and Hu 2016). The repost presents the various methodologies that can be used in order to protect the oil slick. The most applicable methodology in this case is also discussed in the next section of the report. The oil slick may be caused by a number of factors such as the spilling of the oil in the ocean while carrying the oil from one place to another. The use of the oil in the industries is later secreted out in the form of gas polluting the air or in the form of liquid polluting the water. The process of oil slick detection helps in knowing and helps in the prevention of oil leakage. The use of the SAR is mostly done in order to detect the oil slicks that occur due to the various reaso ns. The report presents the literature review regarding the various oil slicks that have taken place (Zhao et al. 2014). The literature review also presents how the use of SAR and MODIS has been made in order to protect the oil slicks that are taking place. The use of remote sensing is made in order to protect the various oil slick processes. The use of remote sensing helps in the proper measurement of the water surface of the oceans and the other water bodies (Sun et al. 2016). The remote sensing offers the highest form of resolution. The use of the airborne remote sensing instrument has the fastest response to the pollution that is caused by the air. However, due to the excess expense that is involved in the airborne remote sensing the use of satellite remote sensing is made in order to check the pollution that is being caused by the oil. The various processes have the various advantages and disadvantages according to which the oil slick takes place. Lastly, the report presents th e best method that can be used for the protection of the oil slick. The above figure clearly depicts the SAR method for the four phases in the oil click detection. The figures a and b have properly demonstrated the baseline, the proposed method, the IVSaliency method and the PRSaliency method. The figures c and d have properly demonstrated the baseline, the proposed method, the SDPoISAR method and the PRSaliency method. Synthetic Aperture Radar or simply SAR is the coherent radar system that eventually uses the air path of this platform for the purpose of simulating the largest antenna or aperture electronically as well as generating the higher resolution imagery of remote sensing (Zhao et al. 2014). This particular type of radar system is mainly either space borne or airborne. Thus, the individual transmitting or receiving cycles or PRTs are completed with the accurate data from every cycle that is being stored electronically. The processing of signal utilizes the phase or magnitude over the successive pulses from all the elements in any particular synthetic aperture. This particular methodology is selected for the case study for its extra ordinary working principle and inherent advantages (Maianti et al. 2015). The increasing use of the oil has led to the increase in the amount of the oil that requires to be transferred across the seas and the oceans in order to maintain the supply of the oil. As a result of which the amount of slicks have also increased to a great extent. Thus, the importance to the detection of the measurement of the oil slicks at water bodies has increased by a great extent (Marghany 2015). The use of more shipping routes for the passage of the ships across the water bodies have made it necessary for the measurement and the protection mechanism to become more strict. The use of the remote sensing can be made in order to detect the oil slicks that are taking place. The detection process may also reduce the amount of slicks that is taking place. The remote sensing process helps in the detection of the possible oil slick that may take place. This also provides the advantage of the nature of the oil that may be slicked and the estimated quantity of the oil that may be spille d. All these information is valuable as this process helps in the detection of the damage that may be caused by the oil slick. The use of the remote sensing helps in the maintenance of the ecosystem (Pisano et al. 2016). The detection of the oil slick has become necessary as the marine life is being affected largely. The protection of the marine animals and the marine plants has become increasingly necessary otherwise the animals and the plants may lead to extinction. The remote sensing process is an important process and may be classified as the passive systems and the active systems. The passive systems refer to the use of the sensors and the detection and the emission from the various natural resources. This process takes place in the visible spectrum (Salberg, Rudjord and Solberg 2014). The other type of the system that is used is them active system. The active system presents the use of the response of the reflection from the objects radiated from objects that are artificial sources. The artificial sources may be the use of the laser and the radar systems. There are various methods that are involved in the detection of the oil slicks. The methods involve the Synthetic Aperture Radar System or SAR, satellite monitoring and the airborne monitoring. The use of the various processes depends on a number of factors. The various factors involve the use of the high temperature resolution as the nature of the oil changes and there may be temperature fluctuations that are involved (Pisano, Bignami and Santoleri 2015). A proper method for the prevention of the oil slick should have the high temperature resolution as it may be a threat to the ecosystem. The second property involve the capacity to view the image even if a thick cover is present in a particular area. The method presented should have the capacity to have the wide spectral resolution, which is important for the detection width and the position of the spectral band. The use of the spectral resolution helps in the detection of the difference in the oil and water that is adjacent to the oil. SAR method: The SAR method may be considered as one of the most efficient and the effective instrument in order to detect the slicks that occur. The use of the SAR helps in the detects the oil spill and the oil spills appear as the dark patches on the image of SAR. The SAR process is used as the spills damp the short waves. The observation that is done by SAR does not depend on the weather conditions that are the drastic weather or the change in the weather conditions or the clouds does not affect the observation (Pettorelli et al. 2014). The SAR can even work in the challenging conditions as well and gives the correct and efficient result. The various conditions may be the stormy weather, where the chances of the accident are increased. The SAR can also work in the night condition. The use of the remote sensing satellites can be made in order to check the oil slicks that taken place. The altitude, the obit and the sensor of the detection device characterize this process (Migliaccio, Nunziata and Buono 2015). The remote sensing device senses the oil slick that has taken place and makes the various reports regarding the various effects of the oil slick and how the oil slicks can be prevented. The use of the satellite monitoring helps in the extension of the range of application to large altitude. The airborne monitoring is an oil spill monitoring method that can be used in order to prevent the oil slicks that is occurring in excess. This process helps in the support of the oil spill cleaning process. There has been introduction of the large number of sensors that is included in order to sense the large number of oil spills that is involved. The use of this method helps in the detection of the potential spillers (Maianti et al. 2015). There are ultraviolet scanner, microwave sensors, laser fluorescence sensors and many other sensors that are involved. The use of these well developed and advanced sensors helps in the possible detection of the spill that may occur due to the various oil spill activities. There are multi- sensors that are involved which helps in the better detection of the oil spills. The use of these multi- sensors helps in the analysis of the data and the helps in putting forward the result of the possible oil slicks that may occur. MODIS method: The use of the MODIS method is another process that helps in the detection of the oil slick that may occur. The use of the MODIS method helps in the detection of the oil slicks. The more number of oil slicks result in the danger to the life of the aquatic animals and the plants. The use of the MODIS method helps in the detection of the images of the oil slicks that is occurring. The use of the Moderate Resolution Imaging Sprectroradiometer (MODIS) is required for the analyzing of the data and the putting forward of the data that is produced by the passive optical sensors that are present (MacDonald et al. 2015). The MODIS structure involves the use of mainly three thresholds. The three thresholds involve the by index threshold, by value and by function. The three thresholds are followed by the integration and the various applications of the algorithms that are presented in order to detect the oil slicks. The MODIS process is an efficient and effective process. As per the requirement given, the process of the SAR is the best process for the implementation of the method for the protection of the oil slick. The SAR process satisfies all the criteria that need to be met. The use of the SAR is an efficient method and the use of this method can be made in order to detect the oil skill. The use of the SAR technique can be used as the SAR process has the right amount of spectral region. Compared to the other processes the coverage area of this process is more and as a result of which this process is more effective than the other processes (Liu et al. 2013). The SAR has the capacity to serve in areas that is prone to excess weather change. In drastic weather condition as well the SAR process has the ability to work and detect the oil spill that may occur. The use of the SAR process can be made at night and day as well. It is difficult for the other processes to operate at night and this provides an added advantage to the SAR process and this is the reason why the SAR is preferred over the other processes. Literature Review The SAR and the MODIS are the two technologies that are used in this article. The main purpose of the report is to detect the oil slicks that are produced in the various regions. For the protection of the oil slicks two main methods are considered in this report. The use of the SAR and the MODIS technologies are used in order to detect these oil slicks. The SAR technology is more widely used than the MODIS technology. There are other various applications of the SAR and the MODIS. These technologies are used in other fields as well (Liu et al. 2013). This literature review presents the use of the SAR and the MODIS technology in the various other fields as well. The use of the SAR is discussed at first. The applications of the SAR technologies can be defined as: The use of SAR can be made in the field of oceanography. The use of the SAR can be made in this field as the use of SAR can be made in order to calculate the spectra of the wave, the speed of the wind and the various other characteristics that may be involved in order to calculate and predict the nature and the characteristic of the wave and the ocean. The use of the technology is often made by the meteorological department in order to predict the weather conditions that may occur (Lavrova et al. 2014). The technology can give the pattern of the waves and the various other characteristic and the condition of the ocean. The calculation of the speed of the wave helps in knowing of the condition of the weather. The use of the technology can provide the various images and the various movements of the wind, which can help in the calculation of the wind speed. The calculation of the wind speed helps in the detection whether the weather will be stormy or calm. This technology can also be ex tended to application in the calculation of the ocean currents. The use of the technology helps in the knowing the chances of the flood. Thus, the technology is helpful with respect to the fact that it can help in saving a large number of lives from the flood. The use of the SAR technology can be extended to agriculture. The use of the technology helps in the classification of the various crops into different sections and defines the various methodologies for the proper maintaining of the crop and the various other method in order to improve the growth and the quality of the crop. The SAR technology helps in the betterment of the quality of the crops. The help of the SAR technology that puts forward the various characteristic and the various properties of the soil does this (Li et al. 2013). All the requirements and the properties of the crop are suggested by the use of the technology. The use of the technology can be made in order to know the characteristics of the soil and the crops that can grow on that type of soil. The measurement of the soil moisture is made by the use of the SAR technology. The use of the SAR technology is also made in order to know the moisture of the soil. By knowing the moisture of the soil, it can be decided whi ch soil is eligible and required for the irrigation and the cultivation of the crops and for agriculture. Thus, the use of the SAR technology can help in knowing the various information about the agriculture. The use of the technology helps in the knowing of the various characteristics of the crop and the characteristic of the soil where the crop is grown. The use of the technology helps in the development of the planting structure and discusses the spatial distribution of the crop. All these information is important on the basis of which the various discussion is made regarding the use of the correct soil and the correct soil. The use of the SAR technology is the most advanced technologies whose used is made in the agricultural field. The use of this technology helps in the identification of the crop from the aspect of data and technology (Lavrova and Mityagina 2013). The use of the SAR technology is made in this case as the improvement of the various parameters relating to the agr iculture is made. The agriculture is an important sector and the use of the various insecticides and the crop production and quality has to be maintained in order to serve the people and in an healthy manner. Moving Target Indicator: The increase in the rise of the number of attacks and the number of bombing taking place has led to the invention of the large number of weapons that can detect the bombs and restrict the attacks. The use of the SAR technology is also made in the Moving target indicator concept. The use of the moving target indicator helps in the changing the operations relating to the battlefield and the bombing. The use of the GPS bomb is looking forward to the displacing of the present bomb that is in use. The use of the SAR helps in the production of the maps of the areas that ranges from a few meters to large kilometers. Thus, the use of the SAR technologies help in the detection of the various materials such as the vehicles, the ships, fences, and aircrafts that is present close to the SAR detector (Kim et al. 2015). The use of the Moving Target Indicator helps in the identification of the slowly moving vehicles, aircrafts and the helicopters. The use of these radars can sometimes even define t he type of the moving vehicle. The use of the SAR technology in the Moving Target Indicator helps in the proper detection, locating of the moving target in a proper manner. The use of the SAR technology also allows the Moving Target Indicator to even work in drastic weather conditions. The use of the present bombs that is the traditional laser bombs needs that the weather conditions is not very humid or the moisture is not present. This property is not required in the present bombs, which implement the SAR technology and can operate in any weather conditions. The use of the SAR technology helps in the proper detection and there is loss of accuracy in the measurement. The use of SAR helps in the efficient and the effective bombing of the target. The other property why the use of the SAR technology is made is that more number of targets can be handled at the same point of time. The use of the SAR technology helps in the efficient bombing even in the adverse weather conditions. A large number of targets can be managed even in the adverse weather conditions and in the night (Khanna et al. 2013). Thus the aircrafts that bomb the other aircraft can handle a large number of targets at the same time and can even operate in an efficient manner in the dark. For the efficient bombing to take place the proper detection of the target is necessary. This efficient detection even in the drastic weather conditions is done by the use of the SAR technology. The radars that is present under the Moving Target Indicator is used for the coverage of a large area and the use of the radar is made in order to detect the articles that may be present or the detection of the target and the bomb in this case. The use of the SAR in the various fields is presented and it is quite evident that the use of them SAR in the various fields have helped in the advancement of the technologies in the various fields and have also helped in the making of the work easier in the various fields (Hu et al. 2015). The application of the MODIS technology has been presented in the next part. The various applications of MODIS technology are: Monitoring of Water Quality: The use of the MODIS technology can be made in order to monitor the water quality. The use of the data that is presented by the MODIS technology is used in the controlling of the water quality. The water quality management is necessary for the management of the quality of the water. There is large number of pollution that can take place from the various sources such as the pollution from the various industries, pollution from the oil leaks taking place from the ships and the other vehicles that carry oil and the other waste materials. There are many people who use the water bodies for the washing of the utensils and the other materials which are of daily necessity (Guo, Liu and Xie 2013). The use of the water bodies have led to the excess pollution. If the pollution is not managed then there would be drastic effects that may take place such as the consumption of this water will lead to the effecting of the large number of people and the various children will also be affected. The use of the water management is thus needed in order to protect the various people from being affected by the use of the polluted water. The use of the MODIS principle helps in the detection of the pollution that may take place and may provide solutions for the prevention of the pollution that is caused by the water. The use of the MODIS principles helps in the detection of the oil slicks that may take place (Xu et al. 2016). It also provides solution and the various ways in which the industry waste may be deposited and the waste may be effectively managed. The MODIS technology helps in the prediction when the possible pollution can take place and as a result of which the prevention of the pollution of the water is possible to a large extent. The use of the MODIS technology helps in the collection of the data of the pollution caused, the type of pollutant that was responsible for the pollution in a major way. This will help in the creation of the awareness and will help in knowing the r eason of the pollution that has taken place. This will help in the restricting of the cause of the pollution from the next time (Garcia-Pineda et al. 2013). The use of the MODIS principle is made because of the presence of the high spectral resolution, which helps in the better detection of the pollutants. The other properties and the reason for the use of the MODIS principle is the short period of revisit, the fast acquisition process and the other property is the free of charge. Thus, by the implementation of these properties the pollution that is caused may be controlled and the proper water management is possible in an efficient and effective manner. The MODIS is largely responsible for the snow cover products that are produced. The MODIS presents the automated process in which the snow covers work. The MODIS snow covers are an improvement over the previous products that were used. The use of the MODIS snow cover has an much more efficient and more effective operation as compared to the snow covers that were used previously (Fingas and Brown 2014). The snow covers generated by the use of the MODIS technology involves the automated process by which the consistent data that is involved may be used and the process is carried out. The snow cover information is required by the data set that is generated by the long- term studies of the climate. The MODIS instrument involves the integration of the large number of instruments, which is necessary for the carrying out of the tasks performed by the snow cover. Thus, the use of the MODIS snow cover is an instrument that is an improvement over the previous instrument. The MODIS snow cover is responsible for the carrying out of the work in a much more efficient and effective manner. Description and Sustainability Aspect There are a number of ways in which the water bodies are getting polluted. One of the major reasons of the pollution is the leakage of the large quantity of oil into the water bodies. The process of the leakage of the oil into the water bodies is responsible by the various ways is called as oil slick. The oil slick form the major part of the water pollution. The oil slick process has to be reduced (De Dominicis et al. 2013). The article makes the mention of two concepts for the reduction of the oil slick. The two methods are the SAR and the MODIS method. The reduction of the oil slick is necessary as the water bodies form the major source of water for the domestic purpose at a number of homes. The water of the water bodies are also supplied as drinking waters at the various houses. The use of the various techniques has been made for the reduction of the pollution of the water bodies. The reduction of the pollution is necessary not only for the humans but for the aquatic animals and p lants as well. The pollution that is caused by the various agents affects the aquatic life as well. The discussion here is to be made about the pollution that is caused by the oil slicks as the oil slick forms the major part of the pollution that is caused in the water bodies (Collins et al. 2015). The formation of the film of oil blocks the sunlight from reaching the animals and plants. Both the species require sunlight to survive. Moreover, due to the formation of the film of oil the oxygen supply is also cut off as the oxygen cannot reach the plants and the animals due to which the marine life is affected. The use of the various technologies that are made in order to protect the pollution that is caused due to the slick of the oil in the water bodies is mentioned in this part. The first technology that is used is the SAR technology and the other is the MODIS technology. Both the technologies are efficient and solve the purpose of the reduction of the oil slick that is taking place. The SAR technology however is more efficient as compared to the MODIS technology. The use of the SAR technology puts forward the advantage of providing efficient and correct solutions even in drastic conditions of weather (Cheng et al. 2014). The SAR can even operate at night. The us e of the SAR can be made for a large area as the radars that are present under the SAR have a large coverage area. The large coverage area is responsible for the detection of the large number of devices or the large number of obstacles. The use of the SAR can be made in a large number of important devices. The use of the SAR tec hnology can be made in order to reduce the oil spill that is caused. By the use of the SAR methodology the oil spill predicted thus reducing the chanced of the oil spill and reducing the chances of the oil slick, which causes the pollution that occurs in the water bodies. The SAR works in the principle that the SAR works as sensors, which have the capability to capture the microwaves that are reflected from the surfaces of the various materials. The presence of the oil works as an obstacle and does not allow the microwaves to enter (Chen and Hu 2014). The microwaves that are returned are detected by the SAR sensors and it can detect the presence of a coating of oil, which puts forward the presence of the oil slick. By the use of the method of SAR the oil slick is prevented to a large extent. The other method that may be used is the MODIS method. The MODIS method is another method that is used for the detection and the prevention of the oil slick. The MODIS has the capability to provide the measurements and the calculations in the various dynamics which are done in large scale such as the cloud cover of the Earth, the processes of the ocean and the process on the land (Caruso et al. 2013). The MODIS is also responsible for the processing of the activities of the lower atmosphere. The MODIS carries out the working by the help of the on board calibrators. There are four calibrators that are present. The on board calibrators involve the in- flight calibration, the solar diffuser, the solar diffuser stability monitor and the spectral radiometric calibration assembly. The process of detection can take place through these calibrators. By the use of the MODIS method the data for the oil slicks can be collected and by the help of these data the oil slick in the future may be prev ented. In order to establish the MODIS image there are mainly three algorithm that is followed. The Thresholding by value algorithm is followed in order to detect the value of the RGB of red color. The second algorithm that is applied is to present the image of the oil spill in an accurate manner. This algorithm is known as Thresholding by Index (Bayona, Domnguez and Albaigs 2015). This process is an important part which helps in the proper image formation of the oil spill. The third and the last algorithm of the MODIS method is the Thresholding by function, which helps in the proper obtaining of the accuracy and the checking of the efficiency. This process works in the principle by the calculation of the RGB values of the green and the red colors. In case the green has a pixel less than three then the oil is detected and the detection of the oil slick is detected. By the help of the three algorithms, the oil slicks can be detected and the oil slick may be prevented. Sustainability can be defined as the process of changing where the resource exploitation, the technological development orientation, investments directions as well as all types of institutional alterations are in harmony and thus enhancing all the potential in meeting the aspirations or human needs (Maianti et al. 2015). The specific organizing principle of the sustainability aspect is the sustainable development that involves various domains like economic, social and environment. The sub domains in this sector are political, technological and cultural. For this particular case study of Oil slick detection using SAR and MODIS imagery, the sustainability aspects mainly involve the environmental changes. The detection of oil slick with the help of the two methodologies of SAR and MODIS is the most advanced step or advancement in the satellite or radar system. Although, satellites are taking down the entire world, they are providing advancements in the technology and thus providing sust ainability aspects to the society (Caruso et al. 2013). The four aspects of the sustainability in this case study are functions as well as structure of the natural ecosystems and their interactions within various radar systems or satellites. Conclusion From the report, it can be concluded that due to the oil slick there are a large number of living beings which are affected. The oil slick from the various sources affects the marine life in a large manner. The use of the various technologies is made for the reduction of the oil slick that is occurring from the ships or from the industry waste. The implementation of the various technologies is discussed in the report. The implementation of the various technologies for the prevention of the oil slick is presented in the report. The various applications of the SAR and the MODIS technology is also presented in this report. The applications are involved in the literature review. The literature review also involves the application of the MODIS technology. The two technologies are largely responsible for the reduction of the oil slicks. The various methodologies for the different technologies are presented in the next section of the report. The method from the point of view of the sustaina bility is also explained in the section. After the discussion of the various technologies that can be implemented, the best technology that can be used is put forward and the reason why the SAR was selected as the best technology to be used is also stated. The SAR has the properties that the other processes do not have. The SAR can work in conditions in which the other monitoring and detection systems cannot work. The use of the SAR is made and it is different from the other properties as the SAR technology also applies in the changing and the drastic weather conditions. The SAR can work in the same efficient and effective manner in the bad weather conditions as well. The use of SAR presents the effective and the efficient results at night, which is difficult for the other technologies to present. Thus, for oil slick detection the SAR technology is the best possible technology that can be used. The future of the SAR technology is immensely enhanced. One of the future trends in SAR technology is the lighter weights of the space borne SARs. The first space borne SAR weighted around 2.3 tons; however, the recent SAR-Lupe weights extremely less, which is around 0.77 tons. For the reduction of the weight, SAR-Lupe utilizes a fixed solar panel as well as a parabola antenna with the diameter of 3m. The various recent trends of SAR technology are platform weight, revisit time and bistatic SAR, interferometry and many more. References Bayona, J.M., Domnguez, C. and Albaigs, J., 2015.
